person to publish detailed observations of the Moon through a telescope.
Though I later became famous for teaching that Earth is not the center of the
solar system, I was actually chided by one of my contemporaries in 1597 for my
reluctance to advocate this theory in public. Who was I?
(C) Galileo Galilei. The contemporary who criticized Galileo
for not speaking out was Kepler. Copernicus was the (modern) inventor of the
heliocentric theory of the solar system.
